Hello! Welcome to my 3rd-grade classroom website. Third grade is so much fun and packed full of new skills and experiences! I look forward to seeing all the amazing things the students accomplish this school year.
Meet the Teacher:
My name is Amber Huckelberry and I am a lifelong resident of Johnson County. I grew up in Vienna living in the most perfect location, right beside the ballpark! In May 2021 I married JP Huckelberry and moved to Cypress, IL. The view from the bluff is absolutely amazing! We have two children, Ethan and Karsyn. Ethan was an NSH Mustang but is now a VHS Eagle. He loves music and amazes me with how quickly he can pick up new songs and learn how to play new instruments! Karsyn has one year left here at NSH as a Lady Mustang. She is the outgoing, social one that loves being active in sports!
Our family has three pets, a standard poodle named Max and two cats, Tabby and Ms. Kitty. Max thinks he is a human and is quite spoiled. He loves being close to his people and doesn't know what personal space is! I am sure he will make his way into our classroom a few times this school year.
We stay super busy going to all the different things the kids are involved in doing. In our spare time, we enjoy family game/movie nights, being outside, taking Max on walks/adventures, and making memories with both of our families. We are very fortunate that our families are both close and live nearby!
I went to Vienna Grade School (1994) and Vienna High School (1998). Following high school, I attended Shawnee Community College where I continued my softball career. Coach Koch, Lou Parker, and Marleis Trover are three educators that made a huge impact on my adult life. They all three frequently encouraged me to go into the teaching field not long after I graduated high school, but at the time I wasn't quite ready to listen. I originally earned an associate's degree related to the computer field but after subbing as an instructional aide at VGS and VHS I discovered the love I had for teaching. It is an absolutely amazing experience to watch the "lightbulb" moments happen!! In 2001, I went back to SCC to finish up the generals needed for the SIUC Education Program and graduated in 2004 with my Bachelor's Degree in Education. Following my undergrad graduation, I embarked on the journey to complete my Master's Degree in Teacher Leadership while being enrolled in the SIUC Teaching Fellows Graduate Program. This opportunity allowed me to complete my master's degree and principal's certification while co-teaching in kindergarten here at NSH from 2004-2006. That is when my teaching career officially began. It seems impossible that this year already marks the beginning of my 17th year teaching 3rd grade at NSH. Time sure has flown by quickly! I am so thankful for being blessed to work at such an amazing school district. Our faculty, staff, and administration are truly like a family and work with the most amazing students and parents!!
This page is continually a work-in-progress. If you discover anything that does not work as it should, please contact me so I can work on getting it fixed. Thanks!
